In the next several years, Mansfield will be transformed by the completion of Storrs Center, the construction of a UConn Technology Park and expansion of the public water system. While these projects will provide opportunities for new jobs and businesses, they will also impact the character of our town. The decisions made today will shape how we live, work and play in Mansfield in the future.
How can we preserve the best of Mansfield? How do we meet the challenges of the future?
Mansfield Tomorrow is our opportunity to shape the future. This project is designed to provide the vision, strategies and tools to become the 21st century community we want to be. At the end of this process, we will have a comprehensive plan that will address issues such as where new development should occur, what that development should look like, how to promote local businesses and support farms, how we might make living in Mansfield more affordable for working families, and how to preserve the essential characteristics of our town. New zoning and subdivision regulations will be developed to implement our vision.
As residents and business owners you made a choice when you came to Mansfield. What attracted you to town? Why do you stay? What would you like to see changed? What would you like to keep the same? We want to hear from you – your insights, ideas and opinions are essential to ensuring that the Mansfield of tomorrow reflects the best of Mansfield today.
This website is your electronic portal to Mansfield Tomorrow. Here you will find ways in which you can participate, obtain information on upcoming events, and view draft plans and policies that evolve from the community’s involvement. There will be many opportunities over the next 18 months to participate – including meetings, on-line surveys, and community forums. We encourage you to share this website with your family, friends and neighbors. The more people that participate in this planning process, the better our final plan will be.
Preparing for the future means planning for it today. Please join us in shaping Mansfield’s tomorrow!
